Senator Mark Herring to recognize 2009 LCHS Volleyball Team

All members of the 2009 volleyball program are welcome to attend this assembly on Wednesday, May 19th at 8:30 AM in the Main Gymnasium.
Juliane Hanna Earns another volleyball Honor
Submitted by Jarod Brown on Fri, 2010-02-26 09:17.Congratulations to Juliane Hanna for being the first Loudoun County Raider to become an All-American by prepvolleyball.com. Juliane is one of 2 Virginia female athletes to be honored to go along with former Potomac Falls and current Flint Hill Junior Tori Janowski.
To go along with this award, Juliane was also named VHSCA 1st Team All-State, VHSCA AA Player of the Year, Gatorade Player of Year in all of Virginia. Juliane will continue her volleyball career at the University of New Mexico in the Fall of 2010.

3 - Peat!! Lady Raiders Love Making Their Home in Richmond, 11/21
Submitted by Jarod Brown on Sat, 2009-11-21 22:18.For the third consecutive year, Loudoun County brings home the VHSL AA Volleyball State Championship marking the first AA school to ever do so. And for the second time in three years, Loudoun County cut the Clippers of Grafton's perfect season one match short. This time, Loudoun County wasted no time putting an exclamation point on a fantastic season by sweeping Grafton 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-10). Loudoun County finishes their season 26-3 putting a stamp on a four year overall record of 109-7 which inlcludes 3 State Championships, 4 State Finals appearances, 4 Region II Titles, 4 Dulles District Regular Season Championships, and 3 Dulles District Tournament Championships.
The Raiders team effort was led by: Juliane Hanna (16 kills, 6 digs, 8 points, 4 assists, 3 aces, 2 blocks), Jenna Strange (5 kills, 8 digs, 12 points, 2 blocks, 2 aces), Robin Marsala (30 assists, 5 kills, 16 points, 6 digs, 4 aces, 1 block), Erin Dancy (5 kills), Emily Vandegrift (4 kills, 1 block, 1 assist), Molly Baldwin (3 kills, 6 blocks, 1 assist), Kathleen Horvath (9 digs, 8 points), Gabby Serafin (6 digs, 1 ace), Hannah Arnold (3 digs, 1 assist), Sammy Dormio (4 points, 1 dig), Allie Cain (1 dig), and the Match Point block by Rachel Arigo (1 block) and Colleen Bowlds (1 block)!

Raiders Rally for '07 Title Rematch in Richmond for State Championship, 11/20
Submitted by Jarod Brown on Fri, 2009-11-20 23:19.Loudoun County survived a scare by coming back to win a 5-set thriller over Roanoke area powerhouse Cave Spring (23-25, 25-18, 28-30, 25-23, 15-10). The Raiders improve to 25-3, and move on to the AA State Final for the fourth consecutive year hoping to bring home their third straight title. If successful, Loudoun County would be the first AA school to win 3 consecutive titles. Loudoun County will face undefeated Grafton HS who defeated EC Glass in the other semifinal 3-0. The final is a rematch of the 2007 final which Loudoun County won 3-2.

Raiders Roll on to Richmond for the 4th Straight Year, 11/17
Submitted by Jarod Brown on Wed, 2009-11-18 13:26.The Lady Raiders Volleyball Team downed the Lafayette Rams 3-0 in the AA State Quarterfinals tonight in Leesburg, VA. The scores were 25-16, 25-18, and 25-14. The Raiders were led by a well balanced defense followed by a solid offensive attack! The attack was led by AA Region II Player of the Year Juliane Hanna with 14 kills, 10 digs, 5 blocks, and 11 service points with 5 aces. Joining her were Jenna Strange (7 kills, 5 blocks, 3 digs, 4 service points because of 4 aces), 1st Team All-Region player Robin Marsala (31 assists, 9 digs, 5 services points, and 1 block), Molly Baldwin (7 kills, 4 blocks), Erin Dancy (5 kills, 4 digs), Emily Vandegrift (3 kills, 3 digs, and 1 assist), Gabby Serafin (21 digs, 1 service point), Kathleen Horvath (7 digs, 10 service points with 1 ace), Hannah Arnold (8 digs, 7 service points, and 1 assist.
Thank you to all our supportive Raider Fans, our Raider Riot, and the crowd pleasing DRUMLINE who came out to watch and cheer us on to victory!! Join us in the AA State Semifinals Friday November 20 @ 400 pm at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond. We will play Cave Spring HS who beat Lord Botetourt HS in 3 games. The other semifinal match is at 600 pm with Region I winner undefeated Grafton HS vs. E.C. Glass. Grafton HS beat Western Albemarle in 4 games, and E.C. Glass defeated Hidden Valley in 3 games. The AA State Final will be played at 1230 pm on Saturday November 21.

Raiders Rule the Region for the fourth straight year, 11/14
Submitted by Jarod Brown on Sun, 2009-11-15 02:08.Loudoun County's volleyball team put another trophy in its case with a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-22) sweep over Western Albemarle to win the VHSL AA Region II Championship. The Raiders, the only team to beat Western Albemarle this season, defeated the Warriors for the second time this season on Western Albemarle's home floor. Loudoun County improved to 22-3 on the season and will host Lafayette HS on Tuesday in the VHSL State Quarterfinals. The semifinals and finals are at VCU in Richmond on Friday at 4:00 PM and Saturday at 12:30 PM.

Loudoun County rides into State Tournament for the 4th Straight Year, 11/12
Submitted by Jarod Brown on Thu, 2009-11-12 23:23.The Lady Raiders punched their ticket to the VHSL AA State Tournament with a 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-17, 25-21) over Kettle Run High School Thursday night in Leesburg, VA. Before they play their state Quarterfinal next Tuesday, they must travel to Western Albemarle HS Saturday for the Region II Championship match. Loudoun County is the only team to defeat Western Albemarle this season as they won on October 3rd at the site of Saturday's final. Western Albemarle defeated Sherando 3-1 in the other semifinal match.
Loudoun County was led by Juliane Hanna (11 kills, 8 digs, 6 points), Jenna Strange (10 kills, 7 points, 3 blocks), Molly Balwdin (7 kills, 4 blocks), Emily Vandegrift (6 kills, 3 points, 2 digs), Erin Dancy (3 kills), Rachel Arigo (3 kills, 4 digs, 1 block), Robin Marsala (43 assists, 6 digs, 4 points, 2 kills), Hannah Arnold (13 points, 6 digs, 3 aces, 2 kills), Gabby Serafin (17 digs), Kathleen Horvath (6 digs, 5 points, 3 aces), Sammy Dormio (3 digs).
The Lady Raiders improved to 21-3 on the season and look to capture their fourth consecutive Region II Title on Saturday at 6:00 PM at Western Albemarle High School.
