Tuesday, May 25, 2010 - Sterling, VA - Potomac Falls High School - For the second game in a row, the Raiders played an error free game, taking advantage of timely hits and 3 Panther errors; and combining with a complete game 2 hitter pitched by Junior Taylor Cokeley, to upset the regular season champion and number one seed Potomac Falls 4-1 in Dulles District Tournament Semi-Final action tonight.
Raiders scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning and 2 runs in the 5th inning. In the 3rd inning, Henry Massey and Matt Cunningham both walked to start the inning. Taylor Cokeley then singled to load the bases. Massey scored on a past ball, and Cunningham scored on a fielder's choice. In the 5th inning, Massey again walked to start the inning. He reached third by an errant pick off attempt allowing Massey to advance to 3rd. Matt Cunningham then singled Henry home. Matt reached 3rd base by two past balls, and scored on another errant throw on a checked swing bunt by Kelly Drews.
Taylor Cokeley had 3 hits, one double and two singles. Besides Cunningham, the only other hit by the Raiders was a double by Kris Pratt.
The defense was solid behind Cokeley who only gave up two hits to the dangerous hitting Panthers. Taylor recorded 4 strike outs and got out of jams in the 4th and 7th innings.
The Raiders now face #2 seed Broad Run the Dulles District Final to be held Thursday evening at Freedom High School.
